| After a break of about fifteen years, Alford
Folk Club was reformed in September 1998, at the same venue as
the old club, and with one or two of the original performers! During the
years since re-opening the club has gradually moved musically further
away from traditional folk music and to reflect this the name has now
changed to Alford Acoustic Music Club.
Whilst traditional folk singers are always welcome it was felt that the
old name was not representative of the general direction of the club.
Meetings are on the first and third Wednesday evening each
month and usually alternate between resident and guest nights.
The candle lit club-room provides a warm and friendly atmosphere, complete
with real ale and the enthusiastic audience always gives visiting performers
a warm welcome, whether seasoned campaigners or apprehensive newcomers.
